Lecture - Ellen Blumenstein
November 2011

Curating as an Expanding Practice

Ellen Blumenstein, a guest curator at the JCVA residency project, will present her work in a special presentation at Gordon Gallery on November 2nd, at 20:00, 95 Ben Yehuda St., Tel Aviv.

In her presentation, Blumenstein will look at models beyond exhibition formats to explore modes of curatorial work that add to the continuing debate and contextualizing of artistic and cultural production.

Exhibition - Marjetica Potrc
October 2011 - January 2012

In a New Land
Marjetica Potrc the 2010 JCVA resident, has had a very fruitful stay here which yielded works that will comprise her next solo show at Galerie Nordenhake in Berlin this October. In it she will present an architectural case-study with drawings and a structure of "Ramot Polin Unit with Sukkah". Potrc has researched quite a bit before coming to Israel, but was thrilled when we pointed to her Architect Zvi Hecker's "Polin Heigths" neighborhood (built in the 1970s) in Jerusalem. This project became the key to her show.

Mechanical Couture
Fashioning a New Order
Marloes Ten Bhomer, who was the JCVA's guest in 2010, is currently taking part in a group exhibition at the Design Museum in Holon, Israel.
The exhibition reveals the fascinating phenomenon of mechanical luxury in today's design world: designers are reinterpreting couture as a hybrid of both mechanized process and customized craftsmanship. Mechanical Couture
